nooligan x wu-tang
I grew up on a small native american reservation here in california and nothing was more prominent then hip-hop and basketball growing up & in 1993 wu-tang was everything.
my cousins and i would try do everything to get a cassette of the album when it came out - where i grew up you could hardly call it a town and getting music and new hip-hop music was pretty much a wish back then.
i remember trying to get the album at the local music shop, it had to be special ordered and it didn’t come on time - when it came out we still had to wait a week or two.
when we got the call, my cousins and i put all in…then that god damn “parental advisory” label would stick it to us and we spent the next few hours circling the block looking for someone to pick it up for us.
it was all worth it, enter the wu-tang (36 chambers) was life changing and not to mention instantly becoming badass…until.
my parents found out - because i was walking around singing “wu tang clan ain't nuthing ta f wit” - needless to say i was pretty much died on the spot then I would die all over again when you see mom snap the tape in half.
my cousins were not pleased and debts were issued.
“wu-tang is for the babies”
